How Adaptability Helped Me Thrive Through a Corporate Merger and Team Restructuring

Adaptability, open to change, problem solver, resilient

Adaptability isn’t just my top soft skill, t’s the reason I’ve been able to succeed in times of uncertainty, growth, and challenge.

In today’s fast-changing marketing landscape, adaptability in the workplace is essential. But for me, it’s always been more than a buzzword, it’s a mindset. And my time at Sincro/Ansira (later acquired by DealerOn in 2024) gave me the ultimate opportunity to prove it.

When I joined the company as an Email Marketing Specialist, I was part of a strong, well-supported team of nine. We had a clear structure: a dedicated team manager, email developer, IT support, creatives, and fellow marketing specialists. Our roles were defined. Our processes were effective. Our communication was seamless.

But over the next four years, everything changed.

The company went through multiple RIFs. Managers came and went, often with no understanding of our team’s systems or responsibilities. To align with a different internal department, our titles were changed to Technical Campaign Manager, forcing us to integrate with a group that had no shared processes or documentation. By 2023, our once robust team had been reduced to just two people: myself and one other marketing specialist.

That’s when I truly leaned into adaptability.

I wasn’t just doing my original job, I became my own email developer, designer, IT support, project manager, and strategist. I had to provide my own resources across every function while supporting clients and maintaining performance. Through this, I enhanced my technical and creative skills, deepened my understanding of cross-functional collaboration, and discovered my ability to solve complex problems under pressure.

My adaptability made me thrive. I rose to the challenge and maintained a 90%+ client retention rate, even as internal resources were stripped away. I built stronger relationships with my clients, kept communication clear, and made every effort to deliver consistent value.

This letter of recommendation from Jordan Harrison, Sr. Director of Media at DealerOn, meant the world to me:

“Karri's ability to retain customers, particularly in the face of challenging circumstances, is truly commendable. She worked diligently on a platform that received limited updates, sales, and product support, and was ultimately sunset in Q2 2025. Despite these limitations, Karri’s proactive approach and dedication to providing high-quality service resulted in remarkably strong customer retention rates… Karri is adaptable, resourceful, and seeks opportunities to improve processes and enhance the customer experience. Her positive attitude, strong work ethic, and dedication to excellence make her an ideal candidate for any organization.”

Adaptability isn’t just about surviving change. It’s about growing through it.

Whether it's a company acquisition, a department restructure, or a change in tools and systems, I’ve learned how to lead myself, and my clients, through transition with focus, flexibility, and drive.

Are you looking for a marketing professional who can adapt to change, overcome obstacles, and keep client success front and center?

Let’s connect. I’d love to bring this mindset and work ethic to a team that values initiative, growth, and resilience.
